We look forward to working closely with you to help provide a Christ-filled school year for all the CYF students of the parish. Please know that as parents you are invaluable to this program. We recognize that you are the first model of God’s love for your children and that no one knows them better or loves them more than you do. It is our goal, then, to work with you and to support the faith formation of your child.

The spirit of this ongoing program is to empower our children to live out their baptismal call and give witness to the Gospel by fostering their love of Jesus Christ and his Church. Our program is designed to assist parents by offering weekly instruction to children in Kindergarten through eighth grade. We strive to nurture each child and each family in the knowledge and love of God in order to enrich their faith life and to enable them to live out their call to stewardship in the community.

As we recommit ourselves to living as disciples of Jesus Christ, we ask that your family please completes the Sacred Heart Discipleship Renewal Form (DRF). A DRF will need to be on file with the parish office before you receive registration materials. Please recognize that this form is an embodiment of our commitment to the financial support and gifts of time and talent necessary to the success of the CYF program and our parish community. Please contact the parish office is your family needs a DRF. Once the parish office has received your DRF, we will  send you the forms to register for CYF. Please note that there is importance to registering early this year in regards to our fee structure. The fee schedule is below.

We cannot emphasize strongly enough that regular Mass attendance, ongoing stewardship, and involvement in the parish is essential to the foundation of our strong Catholic faith.  As parents/guardians, you pass on to your children your priorities, attitudes, reverence and appreciation for the faith.

Confirmation

Confirmation preparation is now  a two-phase, two-year journey towards an encounter with Jesus Christ and receiving the outpouring of the Holy Spirit through the Sacrament of Confirmation. Preparation for this sacrament begins at Baptism when a person is adopted by God into His family and is completed when a person becomes a fully initiated Catholic Christian that is called out into the world for mission. The two years within our preparation program are a small but important piece of the puzzle to prepare a person to receive this sacrament.

The Confirmation Program helps students express their readiness to conform their hearts around Jesus Christ and His Church. By completing the program requirements of commitment to deeping one's prayer life, service hours, assignments, and study of the faith student make visible their intentions by signs and symbols a soul ready to live up to Christ's call. For more information or questions regarding the Confirmation Preparation Program please contact Blake Vajgrt at blakev@shemporia.org.
