We are excited for the 20-21 CYF school year at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church. This past year has been a year of firsts, some good and some bad. It seems evident to say that we have all become more flexible in our expectations and hopefully more patient. We look forward to working closely with you to help provide a Christ-filled school year for all the CYF students of the parish. Please know that as parents you are invaluable to this program. We recognize that you are the first model of God’s love for your children and that no one knows them better or loves them more than you do. It is our goal, then, to work with you and to support the faith formation of your child.
The spirit of this ongoing program is to empower our children to live out their baptismal call and give witness to the Gospel by fostering their love of Jesus Christ and his Church. Our program is designed to assist parents by offering weekly instruction to children in Kindergarten through eighth grade. We strive to nurture each child and each family in the knowledge and love of God in order to enrich their faith life and to enable them to live out their call to stewardship in the community.
As we recommit ourselves to living as disciples of Jesus Christ, we recognize that, in addition to our financial support, our time and talent are also necessary to the success of the CYF program. We will ask for your support in these ways throughout the year. We will be spending less time in class this year to limit our possible exposure to germs from sustained contact with one another and need your help to continue lessons in your home. Each week, students will be provided with content to cover at home that will take approximately 20- 30 minutes to complete. Sometimes this will be student-led, and other assignments will involve parents in the lessons.
Please download, complete and return the enclosed CYF registration forms. Be sure that, if you have a middle school student, you select a section. Due to space and size limiting Year I and Year II Confirmation classes will be limited to 8 students per group. Sections will be first come, first serve. Also due to size and space limits at this time, Sacred Heart will not be accepting registration from non-parishioners who are not already in our program. Please provide a copy of the baptismal certificate for any new student. Registration will close on Sunday, August 16th. Any family wishing to enroll following the registration deadline will be charged a $50 late fee.
Prior to classes starting, information regarding our health and wellness protocols will be communicated. Our parent meeting will be recorded live and sent out to families prior to classes starting.
Thank you for making the commitment to educate your children in the Catholic faith. We are here to assist you on your journey and we sincerely look forward to developing a relationship with your family. God bless you!

Confirmation preparation is now a two-phase, two-year journey towards an encounter with Jesus Christ and receiving the outpouring of the Holy Spirit through the Sacrament of Confirmation. Preparation for this sacrament begins at Baptism when a person is adopted by God into His family and is completed when a person becomes a fully initiated Catholic Christian that is called out into the world for mission. The two years within our preparation program are a small but important piece of the puzzle to prepare a person to receive this sacrament.
The Confirmation Program helps students express their readiness to conform their hearts around Jesus Christ and His Church. By completing the program requirements of commitment to deepening one's prayer life, service hours, assignments, and study of the faith student make visible their intentions by signs and symbols a soul ready to live up to Christ's call.
