Catholic Youth Formation
We welcome all families who wish to register their children Kindergarten through 8th grade in the parish faith formation and sacrament preparation programs for the upcoming year 2022-2023. We look forward to working closely with you to help provide a Christ-filled school year for all the CYF students of the parish. Please know that as parents you are invaluable to this program. We recognize that you are the first model of God’s love for your children and that no one knows them better or loves them more than you do. It is our goal, then, to work with you and to support the faith formation of your child.
The spirit of this ongoing program is to empower our children to live out their baptismal call and give witness to the Gospel by fostering their love of Jesus Christ and his Church. Our program is designed to assist parents by offering weekly instruction to children in Kindergarten through eighth grade. We strive to nurture each child and each family in the knowledge and love of God in order to enrich their faith life and to enable them to live out their call to stewardship in the community.

Please be aware that there are requirements for preparation that will be scheduled throughout the year. Please fill out the sacramental record if sacraments were not received at Sacred Heart.
Preparation for the sacraments of Reconciliation and First Communion occurs over two years, with the first year focusing on helping the child begin a relationship with God and become familiar with the treasures of our Catholic Faith. The second year is spent with separate and specific formation for the two sacraments to be celebrated this year.
Confirmation preparation is a two-phase, two-year journey towards an encounter with Jesus Christ and receiving the outpouring of the Holy Spirit through the Sacrament of Confirmation. Preparation for this sacrament begins at Baptism when a person is adopted by God into His family and is completed when a person becomes a fully initiated Catholic Christian that is called out into the world for mission. The two years within our preparation program are a small but important piece of the puzzle to prepare a person to receive this sacrament.
The Confirmation Program helps students express their readiness to conform their hearts around Jesus Christ and His Church. By completing the program requirements of commitment to deepening one’s prayer life, service hours, assignments, and study of the faith student make visible their intentions by signs and symbols a soul ready to live up to Christ’s call.
